Everyone loves a good scare and the Warren movies are the absolute best. Still the timeline is a total mess because the stories jump all over the place. You might watch a sequel that is actually a prequel. We sorted through the chaos to bring you this order guide. Now you can watch the whole history unfold straight through.
The Nun (1952)

The timeline begins in a creepy abbey in Romania where a demon named Valak causes trouble for a priest. You see scary things happen in dark hallways and it sets up the backstory for the whole franchise.
Annabelle: Creation (1955)

This story shows us exactly where the scary doll came from. A sad husband and wife lose their only child and make a terrible mistake while grieving. Years later they let a few orphan girls move into their home. One child unlocks a door she should have avoided. She meets a doll that brings a dangerous spirit into the world.
The Nun 2 (1956)

Sister Irene thought she was done with Valak but the demon shows up again at a French boarding school just a few years later. She steps up to investigate more scary events and try to stop this evil force.
Annabelle (1967)

The movie takes us to the nineteen sixties. A doctor brings home an unusual doll for his pregnant wife. It seems like a kind gesture. However things turn bad very quickly. Dangerous people break into their home and attack them. After this scary night everything gets worse. Strange things start happening and they realize they are no longer safe.
The Conjuring (1971)

This original movie started it all and introduces us to famous demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren. They visit a creepy old farmhouse to help a family who keep seeing ghosts and flying objects.
Annabelle Comes Home (1972)

Ed and Lorraine lock the cursed doll inside a glass case in their scary basement to keep everyone safe. Their teenage babysitter invites a friend over who sneaks into the room and lets all the trapped spirits run wild.
The Curse of La Llorona (1973)

Father Perez from the first Annabelle movie shows up in this 1973 story. His presence connects this film to the wider universe even if it feels like a quick side quest. The main story follows a social worker trying to save her kids. A weeping ghost is hunting them because she wants to take the children away forever.
The Conjuring 2 (1976)

An entire family in London is being terrorized by a scary spirit. A single mom and her kids do not know what to do next. Luckily, the Warrens travel there to save them. But a dark shadow hangs over the case. Lorraine sees a vision of a demon nun and fears a terrible tragedy is coming for them.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (1981)

Things get intense when a guy claims in court that a demon forced him to commit a terrible crime. Ed and Lorraine investigate the strange case and find out someone used a witch totem to place a dark curse.
The Conjuring: Last Rites (1986)

This upcoming film jumps ahead and might be the final chapter for our favorite ghost hunting couple. It takes inspiration from a real haunted house in Pennsylvania where a family dealt with moving furniture and creepy voices.
The Classic Release Order

Watching in chronological order is super fun but you can also watch them by release dates starting with the 2013 original. That is the best way for beginners to learn all the connections like the filmmakers planned.
