At times, even the minor aspects of a beauty routine can silently work against you. An accustomed habit may begin to appear heavier and duller and even weary without one noticing immediately. The beauty trends vary, the skin is different, and even the lighting or weather can influence the way the products sit on the face. What seemed to be flattering one day may just require a slight modification. Most people stick to the tradition because it makes them feel better, whereas they do not understand that some small adjustments would make them look softer and restore the original light.
Wearing too much foundation

Sometimes, a heavy foundation may sink into fine crevices and rough areas of the face. It may emphasize irregularities and dryness on the face instead of creating a smooth look, which may make the face look a bit weary or aged.
Skipping moisturizer before makeup

Any makeup that is put on dry skin will clump up in irregular areas and appear uneven during the day. The lack of skin moisture may result in the fact that the products are not blended as well, and, therefore, the complexion may look flat or not so bright.
Using very dark lipstick shades

Dark shades of lipstick may appear impressive, and under certain circumstances, they may highlight the existence of fine lines around the lips. Sometimes they can make lips look smaller or less full than the more tender, lighter shades can.
Ignoring your eyebrows

Sometimes, overplucked or very thin eyebrows alter the face’s balance. The eyes have brows, and when they appear to be sparse, then the face may not seem so defined, which may have an unconscious effect of adding years to the appearance.
Applying too much powder

Shine can be managed using powder, although excess will cause the skin to appear flat or excessively matte. It can also pool in lines or a textured portion in certain cases, which causes the skin to appear drier than it is.
Choosing the wrong blush placement

The whole appearance of the face may vary with the placement of the blush. It may physically pull the face down when it is too low on the cheeks. A little more lift may produce a fresher look at times.
Neglecting the neck area

The skin on the face is commonly based on the face, but the neck changes as quickly as possible. The difference in texture of the face and neck may, at times, be visible when the neck area is not taken care of properly.
Using harsh skincare too often

Powerful exfoliants and treatments may seem to work; however, when used regularly, they may result in skin irritation or drying. The texture of the skin may not look smooth but rugged or weary when the skin barrier is disturbed.
Overlining the eyes with dark liner

The eyeliner could be extremely heavy, particularly on the lower eyelid, and in some lighting could make the eyes smaller. The softer lining methods can also give a brighter, more open appearance around the eyes.
