Now that we’re getting new casting news, the sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2022 release looks as close as it ever has and it evokes the same sense of anticipation that we had when we were waiting for the first entry.

Sebastian Stan recently shared about joining The Batman Part II during the Cannes Film Festival promotion of another project. After adding to the speculation for months, he revealed that he will travel to London this summer to start shooting.

Stan will portray the dual identity of Gotham City’s district attorney, Harvey Dent and his villainous alter-ego, Two-Face. When asked about the dual nature of his work, he noted he will be playing “many roles in this one.”

The brooding Bruce Wayne and his caped alter ego are both back here with Robert Pattinson. These screen interactions could introduce dramatic moments and ethical dilemmas that heighten the storyline of the finest Batman movies, on top of the groundwork of the 2022 film.

The movie is based on the long-standing Batman comics but it’s done in a realistic approach to the comics that Reeves is known for. Some of the themes, such as The Long Halloween, have carried over into previous installments, leaving the possibility that this sequel will also incorporate familiar themes and new takes on them that appeal to modern audiences.

If Dent’s story arc follows through with the transformation that was teased, then maybe there will be more fighting and character development in future stories. So for the time being, it is important to keep the emphasis on what this addition will be adding to the chapter as it is for now.
