Just because a movie gets bad reviews does not mean it is bad. Critics sometimes miss the fun parts entirely. We are looking at eleven films that failed with reviewers but somehow won over audiences everywhere instead.

This comedy has the classic humor we know from Andy Samberg and his friends. Reviewers disliked it at first but people think it would do way better today. Lorne Michaels guessed it would take time to find an audience.
Tommy Boy
Chris Farley and David Spade make a hilarious team and this movie proves how good they are together. Reviewers were not impressed back then but fans find it super funny. You just cannot ignore how well Farley works with Spade.
Grandma’s Boy
Allen Covert usually plays smaller parts in Adam Sandler films but here he is the main star. Critics totally ignored it at first but audiences gave it a much better score. It has slowly become a cult classic that people love watching.
Jingle All the Way
Having Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sinbad in a holiday movie sounds pretty chaotic but it actually works. People think it offers a funny look at how crazy holiday shopping gets. Reviewers did not like it but fans still quote the funny lines.
Space Jam
Seeing Michael Jordan team up with Bugs Bunny was a huge deal for kids in the nineties. Nobody expected art because they just wanted some good old cartoon fun. Bill Murray completely understood what kind of movie this was.
Armageddon
This action movie is exactly what you want when you need popcorn entertainment on a lazy weekend. It has a giant cast and an emotional ending with that famous Aerosmith song playing. It is super cheesy but nobody cares because it is fun.
Volcano
Disaster movies were everywhere back in the nineties and this is the ultimate cheesy movie from that time. Watching a volcano erupt in a city is wild and Tommy Lee Jones makes it better. It is definitely still super entertaining.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest
Sequels get a bad reputation but a lot of fans actually prefer this one over the original movie. It adds more action and bigger stakes while keeping all the funny jokes. The ending is iconic and the special effects still look good today.
Con Air
This movie involves villains taking over an airplane and Nicolas Cage trying to stop them. He uses an awful Southern accent the whole time but that just makes the movie more entertaining. It is one of those movies you simply have to watch.
Wet Hot American Summer
This movie brought together an amazing cast like Paul Rudd before they were super famous. It is a small budget film that ignored what critics thought and went for weird jokes. Kids ended up loving it and it got spin off shows.
Clue
It sounds crazy to make a movie based on a board game but they pulled it off. Having a huge cast led by Tim Curry helps a lot and the mystery is super fun. The coolest part is that they made different endings like the game.
